Traveling the world is fun. But it always feels good to go home.

Alumni will have the opportunity to come home to Marywood at the annual Alumni Weekend, May 29-31.

The reunion weekend will consist of special events to honor Marywood’s past and more than 29,000 alumni have the opportunity to participate.

According to Ann Williams, director of alumni engagement, the last day of the alumni weekend is exactly 100 days from the Centennial on Sept. 8. Alumni Weekend is considered to be the official alumni kick-off to Marywood’s Centennial.

“President Sr. Anne Munley will present an overview, ‘Marywood Then and Now,’” said Williams. “The video presentation features photos from Marywood’s past.”

The Department of Alumni Engagement has provided deals on hotel options to make the reunion more accessible for out-of-town alumni.

According to Leon John, associate director of alumni engagement, past students may have the option to stay on campus in Madonna Hall throughout the weekend.

John added that there will be more than 20 events scheduled during the reunion. Events include an all-class luncheon, an all-class reception, an all-alumni Mass, mimosa brunch, and class parties.

“The honor classes have separate parties, with an all-class party celebrating all of the classes from 1975 to present,” said John.

John said that the 50th reunion class will celebrate with a special party on Saturday evening.

According to Lyesha Fleming, social work and public administration graduate student and a student caller who speaks to alumni about the weekend, many Marywood graduates have attended past alumni reunion weekends.

“Alumni are excited about the Centennial weekend,” said Fleming.

Fleming said that the reunion weekend is essential for those past students who have impacted and shaped the Marywood Community.

“It is important to have alumni share in the celebration of Marywood’s Centennial,” said Fleming.
