The Board of Trustees, along with Marywood President Sr. Mary Persico, IHM, Ed. D, met with the Finance Committee, Advancement Committee, Shared Governance Committee and members from Academic Affairs as part of their first visit of the semester.

According to Persico, topics included Marywood’s budget and upcoming fundraisers taking place this semester.

Persico said eight or nine faculty members, as well as Board members, met at the shared governance meeting to talk about “some very constructive things that are happening on campus,” including offering more online courses.

The release of the final Strategic Resource Allocation (SRA) report last semester, which included potential changes to programs and the college structure, will be studied closely this semester, according to Sr. Mary.

“One of the biggest things in the SRA report was some ongoing studies so we can make sure that everything we do is done efficiently and in the best interests of our financial positions,” said Persico.

According to Persico, there will be studies completed this semester about web services and staffing at the Learning Commons, specifically how the university can best use the space in the new Learning Commons building.

Persico said the studies from the SRA report “have begun and they will be ongoing for a while.”

Dr. Susan Turell, Marywood’s new Provost, will be working with Deans and faculty members regarding the changes to the college restructuring process.

Chair of the Board of Trustees Lisa Lori said morale at the meetings was very high.
“Everyone is very excited about the new team in place,” said Lori.

Persico said she feels that everyone is building trust and is pleased with the meetings.

“There’s a very honest exchange between the board, faculty and administration,” said Persico.
