NEWS BRIEF: Students and faculty win at advertising awards

Graphic design majors and members from the Art Department took home awards at the annual Northeastern Pennsylvania American Advertising Awards (ADDY) ceremony held at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel.

According to Marywood’s website, Senior Graphic Design Major Kelsey Van Horn won Best of Show and Gold and Silver ADDY Awards for her graphic design work.

A group project received a Gold ADDY which included undergraduate graphic design majors Elizabeth Carlson, Gabrielle Creazzo, Rachel Hines and Kelsey Van Horn. By receiving the gold award, the group’s work will move on to the District II competition where work from students in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware and New York will be judged.

Creazzo also won two Silver ADDY Awards for package designs. Niki DiGaetano, an undergraduate graphic design major, received a Community Spotlight Award for design work through an internship at ScrantonMade, a local nonprofit which celebrates artists.

Faculty members from the art department also won awards in the professional competition. Assistant Professor of Art Dennis Corrigan, Associate Professor of Graphic Design Chris Medley and Associate Professor of Art John Meza won a Silver ADDY for a team poster project.
