SPORTS BRIEF: Moravian College routs men’s basketball

Marywood’s losing streak increases to eight straight games.

The men’s basketball team looked for its first win when the team hosted Moravian College on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Marywood, the Greyhounds pounced to an 84-51 win.

According to marywoodpacers.com, Moravian got off to a hot start with four three-pointers in the first five minutes. Moravian’s defense was strong throughout the game, forcing the Pacers into 33 total turnovers, 16 in the first half.

The Pacers’ sophomore forward Jeremy Ringland had a team high ten points and fellow sophomore Tip Swartz contributed with nine.

With many early first half fouls on both teams, Moravian capitalized at the line shooting 13 of 20 while Marywood shot 15 of 23.

Moravian took a 45-31 lead at halftime and came out even stronger in the second period. The Greyhounds went on an incredible 22-0 run never looking back.

The Pacers are now 0-8 in their season with their next home game slated for Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. against Muhlenberg College.
