“After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked – as I am surprisingly often – why I bother to get up in the mornings.” — Richard Dawkins
Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Spring, Happy Earth Day. It does sound like we have many things for which to be grateful. Look outside and see the buds on the trees, the grass growing and the flowers bursting through the ground. The warmer sweet spring air comes and warms our faces and the sun shines down and you might even think about going outside to study.
How often do we say “thank you” for such beautiful flowers, grass, sun and breeze? Do we take the time to stop and smell the flowers? Do we stop and say “thank you” to the one who gave us all of this beauty? We celebrate many things during this springtime, Easter, and Passover.
The God who loves us, unconditionally, has given us so many gifts and blessings but do we ever stop for even a moment and say “thank you?” Do we take the time to wonder, to think, and to imagine the world we can create, if we just put our minds to it? I invite you this season to stop, look, smell, listen and pray and say “thanks.”
