Marywood men’s soccer was unable to overcome an early Neumann University goal, resulting in a shutout loss at home last night.

Neumann’s Jack Norwood scored just over a minute into the action, giving the Knights an early advantage.

The Pacers’ defense locked down from there, allowing only one shot-on-goal the rest of the contest. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Mejia saved the shot in the 22nd minute.

Marywood’s offense fired four shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net.

The Pacers drop to 8-7 on the season with a 5-4 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record. The loss also sets up a rematch between the two teams next week.

According to the Marywood Pacers website, the victory locks Neumann at the four-seed while pegging Marywood as the five-seed. The Knights will host the Pacers in the First Round of the CSAC Playoffs on Halloween.

The Pacers host Alvernia University this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the last regular season game for both teams.
