Longtime Marywood Pacers women’s basketball head coach Tara Macciocco has resigned from her position.

According to a memo from Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Mary Jo Gunning, Macciocco also resigned as assistant director of athletics and recreation for compliance and academic support coordinator.

Gunning said in the memo that Macciocco accepted the head women’s basketball coaching job at Wilkes University.

“Certainly, her presence will be missed and she has impacted our departments and student-athletes in many positive ways,” Gunning wrote. “I am confident you will join me in wishing her only the best in all future endeavors.”

In her 14 seasons as head coach, Macciocco led the Pacers to seven Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournaments.

She also earned back-to-back Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Coach of the Year honors in 2016 and 2017 while leading the Pacers to 10 straight CSAC postseason appearances.

It is not clear yet why Macciocco resigned. However, her biography is no longer on the Marywood Pacers official website.
