Late Monday night, Marywood students reported possible clown sightings on campus, causing students, Campus Safety, and Residence Life to investigate.

The campus reports come amid multiple others across the country of strange clown sightings, some considered to be potentially threatening.

Freshman Pre-Physician Assistant major Marlee Holleran said she heard of possible clown sightings from friends.

“You wouldn’t think it would happen at Marywood,” she said.

In Loughran Hall, Marywood’s freshmen dorm, students gathered in the lobby amidst confusion about a possible lock-down.

According to Campus Safety, after an investigation into possible clowns, the department is considering the happenings a prank. Additionally, there are no lock-downs currently taking place on Marywood’s campus.

Campus Safety officers are communicating with Chief of Campus Safety Mike Finegan and the Dunmore police. Both Marywood’s Campus Safety and the Dunmore police are routinely patrolling campus, according to Campus Safety.

“We’re a little scared,” said Rick Sun, a freshman retail management major.

James Cole contributed to this report.
