Under the watchful eye of a video crew from ESPN, Dr. Ken Rundell, director of respiratory research and the human physiology lab at Marywood, conducts a cardiac ultrasound exam on student volunteer George Downey, IV, of Palmyra. The crew from ESPN Video/E:60 was on campus to interview Dr. Rundell about his World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) funded research investigating the effects of Sildenafil (Viagra) on pulmonary hypertension related to air pollution. The $90,000 grant is funding the research that will be used to determine whether to ban the use of Sildenafil among athletes. The segment aired on E:60 on October 28.
