The Marywood University Women’s Volleyball team is looking to “dig” into a successful season in 2009. The team is coached by John Bedell, who is entering his second season at the helm for the Pacers. The Pacers are looking to improve on their 2008 record of 10-14.
The team will be relatively young with only three players entering their last year of eligibility. The Pacers will look to their seniors captains, Lizzy Green, Riona Corr and Taryn Borden, for much needed leadership.
The starters consist of Green, Outside Hitter; Corr, Setter; Borden, Outside Hitter; Freshman Emily Tillman, Outside Hitter; Sophomore Kim Lope, Middle Hitter; Sophomore Marin Robinson, Outside hitter; and Sophomore Arielle Cassidy, Libero. Other Pacers who are vying for time are Freshman Alyssa Hartranft, Server; Sophomore Sara Jastrzembski, Middle Hitter; Freshman Jessica Lynn Swida, Libero; Freshman Megan Schilling, Outside Hitter; Freshman Maryrose Ammirati, Libero; Freshman Amanda Boyance.
The Pacers have high expectations leading into the season. “Our goal this year as a team is to improve on our record from last year and put ourselves in position to make the CSAC playoffs,” said Arielle Cassidy. The Pacers are sure to have an exciting season, don’t miss out on the action.
