Marywood’s volleyball team continued its early season struggles last night against Ursinus College. The Bears took care of the Pacers in three sets 25-6, 25-21, and 25-13.

According to marywoodpacers.com, the Pacers’ squad committed nine errors in the first set, hurting its chances of keeping it close. The Bears played a much cleaner set, only committing one error.

The Pacers cut down on the errors in the second set and exploded for 14 kills to tie the game 18-18, but Ursinus pulled away late to take the set.

The errors came back to haunt the Pacers in the final set.

Marywood committed eight more errors to the Bears’ three miscues, leading to a fifth straight loss to open the season.

Even with the loss, the Pacers had a few bright spots in performances from junior Danielle DeIulio and sophomore Mallorie Deschaine.

DeIulio, a Communication Sciences and Disorders speech-language pathology major, finished with 22 assists and Deschaine, a physician’s assistant major, led the team with 10 kills and 11 digs.

The Pacers will look to turn things around when the team travels to Salisbury University for the Sea Gull Classic which starts tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
