Marywood takes on Cabrini University for their Play4TheCure Game

The Marywood field hockey team was defeated by Cabrini University on Oct. 19 by a final score of 4-1 with the Pacers’ lone goal from sophomore Lauren Youngken.

Marywood Takes on Cabrini University for their Play4TheCure Game

On Wednesday, October 19th, the Marywood field hockey team took on Cabrini University at home during their Play4TheCure game. In order to show support for breast cancer awareness, the Pacers wore bright pink socks and fans wore anything pink.

The first quarter was a back and forth battle in which neither team had scored. It was not until the second quarter when Cabrini put some points onto the board and scored 3 goals. Early on into the fourth quarter, Cabrini scored once again.

With only two minutes left in the third quarter, Sophomore Lauren Youngken scored off of an assist from Sophomore Milana Straub. There were no goals scored in the fourth quarter resulting in a final score of 4 – 1, with Cabrini taking the win.

Junior goalkeeper Rachel Yohn had 17 saves in the cage with Senior Klair Bievenour and Sophomore Corrin Hasty each earning one defensive save. The Pacers had a total of 4 shots on goal with shots from Yougken, senior Angie Genter and senior Shannon Gosline.

The Pacers’ next game is away at Manhattanville College on Saturday, October 22nd. The game begins at 1pm.
