Women’s Soccer
Entering the week, the Atlantic East Conference announced the women’s soccer weekly award nominations. Marywood’s Carly Walters was named AEC Player of the Week and Britlyn Higgins earned Weekly Honor Roll.
Scoring four goals and an assist for the Pacers was Walters. She also had a hat trick and an assist to beat Goucher 10-1. She successfully scored her 50th career point in the 56th minute of the game. Scoring the game winning goal over SUNY Poly was Higgins in the 19th minute in a 4-0 shutout. Higgins’ strong defense helped the Pacers outscore their opponents 14-1 in two games of the season.

On Wednesday Marywood had its 12-game home unbeaten streak come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Lancaster Bible College. The Chargers scored in the 32nd minute to give them a 1-0 lead. Lancaster Bible would strike again in the 76th minute on a breakaway goal by Janae Bergey. The Chargers had four shots, the Pacers had six shots on goal. Caroline Walters was able to connect with the goal three times. Jenna Orr and Genevieve Morrison were both able to connect with the goal.
On Saturday Marywood traveled to Moravian University to clutch a 2-0 win. Walters had an outstanding game, scoring both goals for the Pacers. In the 12th minute Walters scored the first goal of the game from 33 yards out from the goal. The Pacers will host Stockton University on Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon.
Men’s Soccer
On Tuesday the Atlantic East Conference announced the men’s soccer Weekly Honor Roll, which included junior Jack Forbes.
Marywood hosted Susquehanna University on Wednesday. The Pacers stayed consistent and scored a goal in each half to upset Susquehanna with a 2-0 victory. The Pacers first goal of the game was in the 19th minute. Donnie Powell assisted Owen Clearwaters, who gained Marywood a 1-0 lead. Jared Sanborn clutched the last goal in the 70th minute of the game giving the Pacers the 2-0 advantage.
On Saturday The Pacers traveled to Utica University to take on the Pioneers. Owen Clearwaters got the Pacers on the board in the 55th minute of the game. The Pioneers extended their lead to 4-1 with back-to-back goals in the 56th and 63rd minutes. Noah Kozera found Clearwaters who scored the Pacers’ second goal. Utica scored once more in the 70th minute, claiming the 5-2 victory. Marywood now falls 2-2 in the start of the season.
Women’s Volleyball
On Wednesday, Marywood clutched its first win over King’s College since 2010. Ayla Bransford had the second most assists and also a double-double with 14 digs. Carolina Samaniego added 16 kills and 12 digs. On defense Catie Woolf and Andrea Fraga each had 21 digs. King’s led 13-12 in the fourth set then Marywood stepped up and came back with 7 back-to-back points. Hart scored, tying the game, and Genevieve Pollock had a kill to finalize the game.
The Pacers won over Alfred State in four sets and on Saturday Marywood played Lycoming College. In match one, Marywood defeated Alfred 3-1, and both Pollock and Carolina Samaniego finished with 11 kills apiece. Hallam added nine kills.
In match two Marywood defeated Lycoming 3-2. Pollock contributed 14 kills and a .294 hitting percentage. Gracee Work had 13 kills and three aces. The Warriors scored six straight points, making the score 13-11. Marywood came back with 12 of the last 13 points from Emilie Agnoli and Gracee Work. The Pacers lead 21-8 in the third set. Pollock clutched back-to-back kills keeping the Pacers ahead 5-1.
Women’s Field Hockey
On Tuesday the Atlantic East Conference announced Brooke Barwick earned Player of the Week honors. She broke the single-game points record in a win over SUNY Morrisville, leading the Pacers with four goals. Tying the game 2-2, she scored three more goals in only six minutes.
On Saturday Marywood hosted Dean College. In the first half, the game started off scoreless. Dariane Jones scored in the 35th minute of the game to give the Pacers the 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs tied the game in the 52nd minute. In the 63rd minute, Whitney Berge connected with Marcin on a penalty corner for the goal. The Pacers had 20 shots with 12 on goal. The Bulldogs had 10 shots with four on the target. Sabrina Frazer added three saves for the Pacers. Marywood will head across town to the University of Scranton on Tuesday.
Men’s Cross Country
On Tuesday the Atlantic East Conference announced the men’s cross country weekly award winner. Marywood’s Runner of The Week was Bryce Ryder, who also won the Misericordia Invitational to start the Pacers’ season. He finished the 4K in a time of 12:21.2, beating Dickinson’s Nathan Caldwell by four seconds. Ryder also beat his record 4K time by eight seconds.
Womens Cross Country
The Atlantic East Conference announced Paige Redman earned the Women’s Cross Country weekly Honor Roll. Marywood finished in third, and Redman finished in eighth place for the Pacers at the Misericordia Invitational. Redman ran a 4K in 16:07.5 time, beating her old record by 2 minutes, 24 seconds.
