Justin Herbert MVP season?
The Los Angeles Chargers started off the 2025 NFL season defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in a tough divisional battle, 27-21. What stood out from this matchup was Justin Herbert. The Chargers have struggled to take down the divisional rival during the Herbert-era, but their winless drought has finally come to an end. Coming into this matchup 0-7 against Patrick Mahomes, it’s safe to say Herbert put the league on notice, taking down the best quarterback in the NFL. Herbert converted 25/34 passing attempts (73.5 completion percentage), three touchdowns, as well as a QBR of 88.9, all of which were better than Mahomes. Herbert looked very poised throughout the entire game, he made great reads from start to finish, and showed his ability to hurt the defense with his legs, sealing the game with a 19-yard run. He has all the tools to add his name into the top quarterbacks in the league and maybe-just-maybe, become the next NFL MVP.
Time to bench Russ and start Dart
The New York Giants week 1 was a disaster on the offensive end. Russell Wilson never once looked calm and collected in the pocket, his deep-ball was very underwhelming, which is what Russ is known for, and his chemistry with star wide receiver Malik Nabers was noticeably shaky. Wilson only connected on 17 of his 37 throws and only tallied 168 passing yards. He also failed to punch in a touchdown with many throw-aways into the back of the endzone while in the redzone. Granite, it’s only one week but the New York fans are itching to see their new rookie Jaxson Dart, out of Ole Miss, who stunned the football world with his outstanding performances during preseason, where he exceeded expectations. It might be time to bring some youth to the Big Apple and enter the Dart-era.
Eagles will not go back-to-back
There were two things that stood out from the Eagles week one victory 24-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. One, the Eagles passing game was not very great. They had a total of 152 passing yards with the help of a 51-yard reception from Jahan Dotson. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith combined for four targets, resulting in just 24 yards. That is very concerning, especially against a mediocre defense that Dallas has. Two, CeeDee Lamb was tearing apart the Eagles secondary, tallying 110 yards on seven receptions. If it wasn’t for a few uncharacteristic drops by Lamb, he would’ve had over 170 yards and the Cowboys won that game. Not saying that the Eagles aren’t still a contender but the fans should be a little concerned about their chances to repeat.
Miami Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL
There were no positives that came out of the Miami Dolphins week one performance against the Indianapolis Colts. Tua Tagovailoa had the worst week for any quarterback in the NFL. He was 14 for 23 passing, for 114 yards, a touchdown, two interceptions and a fumble, which amounted for a 2.7 QBR. This roster is filled with holes, especially on the defensive end after trading away Jalen Ramsey this past offseason. This showed already with a poor performance from the Miami secondary, while Ramsey is making game-winning plays over in Pittsburgh. The vibe of the Dolphins sideline was very chaotic, with All-Pro wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, angry with his lack of involvement in the offense and the team’s growing frustration with coach Mike McDaniels is a masterpiece for disaster. After the looks of week one, the Miami Dolphins could be heading down the right path and could see themselves as the worst team in the National Football League when the season is set and done.
Daniel Jones resurgence will lead the Colts to a playoff appearance
There it goes, Daniel Jones does it again, he makes us believe once again that he has the potential to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Is there a possibility Jones becomes the QB he once was back in 2022 when he led the New York Giants to a Wild-Card round victory? That would not be an absurd question to ask after his week 1 performance. A Sam Darnold type of resurgence could be on the horizon for Daniel Jones, at least their fanbase could only hope for after benching Anthony Richardson. Jones made the right plays, protected the ball, and his team cruised to a 33-8 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Taking a look at the AFC South you have the Colts, Jaguars, Titans and the Texans. None of these teams are clear-cut playoff teams, with the Jaguars and Titans favored more towards the bottom 10 teams in the league. This is a perfect opportunity for Jones to reach the playoffs for the second time in his career. If the Colts just maintain solid production around their quarterback, Indianapolis can be looking at some playoff football.
