For nine straight days, people have the chance to experience the largest agricultural fair in Pennsylvania, which is the Bloomsburg Fair. For 170 years, Pennsylvanians have come together to take part in this fair. It covers over 227 acres so people have the opportunity to have a lot of fun. The fair ran from Sept. 19 to 27. It is always in late September, and the drive is just a little bit more than an hour from Marywood.
The fair has numerous food stations, exciting rides and carnival games. There also were live performances from local bands and artists for everyone to see. The grandstage sections had more well-known artists, comedies and events for a price. Members of The Wood Word staff attended the fair and shared their reviews.

Growing up in Northeast Pennsylvania, the Bloomsburg Fair is something that I have attended a few times in my life. Known for its games, food and music, the Bloomsburg Fair is a must-do in September, and people come from all around to attend. The first time I attended the fair, I was a freshman in college, looking for something to pass the time. When my friends decided to head down to the Bloomsburg Fair, we thought of it as nothing other than something to do, but we quickly realized that you couldn’t do the Bloomsburg Fair in just one night, that you had to experience it multiple times, so we went three nights in a row.
When the fair dates were announced for this year, I made it a priority to head back down to the fair to experience it once again. I hadn’t been to the fair since my freshman year of college. Once again, my two friends and I went down, and safe to say, the experience this time was an even better experience than my first time at the fair.
When first entering the fair, there are many options as to what to do first. There are almost unlimited options for food or beverages. If you want Mexican food, you can find a Mexican food truck with tacos and burritos. If BBQ is more your style, then there are countless options for BBQ throughout the fairgrounds.
I myself enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich with American cheese and lemonade, along with an apple dumpling for dessert. Afterward, I headed down to the rides area of the fair, where I found a souvenir tent, where I purchased a sweatshirt. Then I proceeded over to a henna tattoo tent to get one.
I greatly enjoyed the experience of the Bloomsburg Fair, the same way I did the first time I went down. I would happily attend the fair next year, as well as in the years to come.

This was my first time at the Bloomsburg Fair and really any fair. It is safe to say I was amazed by everything here. From the outside it looked like there were a few games and attractions, but once I went through the gate everything changed.
Everywhere I looked there were games, rides and delicious food. Not to mention the thousands of people standing in my way. I have never seen anything like this. I started out by walking around the whole fair. There were stands on both sides of the walkway and really no room. The first place I went to was a building showcasing different types of contests that were held. I looked at agriculture and art. It was nice seeing all of the impressive works of people in our community but the best part was the air conditioning to cool off from the hot day.
After that I headed to the carnival games area. First I tried my luck in the dart game. The more balloons you could pop, the better the prize. Unfortunately, I could only hit one and won a water gun. Then, I attempted the fish bowl game. My goal was to throw a ping pong ball into a fish bowl, and I would win that fish. I was able to get two in and earn two fish. Instead of taking them home with me, I gave them to a kid who really wanted to win some.
Overall, the fair was really enjoyable and filled with many attractions. There was just so much that it was impossible for me to do and see everything in one day. I definitely would love to go back next year and experience the fun again.
