Marywood University’s Trumpet Studio will be hosting Dr. Langston J. Fitzgerald, III, as he teaches a free master class on the trumpet.
A master class is a form of class where an expert performer teaches individual musicians in a public setting.
Dr. Fitzgerald taught the trumpet at Penn State University and played trumpet for over three decades with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he was a trumpet faculty member at the Peabody Conservatory of Music for 15 years.
Dr. Rick Hoffenberg, co-director of the School of Visual & Performing Arts, suggests that everyone attend the master class.
“Anyone can learn from watching Dr. Fitzgerald teach, whether a beginner, intermediate or advanced brass player. In addition, people who don’t play a brass instrument may find it interesting and informative.” Hoffenberg said.
The class will be held in the Marian Chapel at the Swartz Center for Spiritual Life on Marywood’s campus at 1 p.m. on Oct. 11. To learn more, visit the Marywood Music, Theatre and Dance website.
