Women’s Soccer
On Monday, the Atlantic East Conference announced Marywood goalkeeper Genevieve Morrison as conference Defensive Player of the Week. Morrison made nine saves across Marywood’s wins against Centenary University and Marymount University.
The Pacers hosted Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday shutting out the Griffins 2-0.
Marywood traveled to Pratt Institute on Saturday coming home with a 5-1 win and continuing their 13-game winning streak. Caroline Walters had three assists, and Samantha Dias had two goals. Bryn Stiles, Rylee Alston and Bella Wright each contributed one goal for the Pacers. For Marywood, Morrison recorded five saves. The Pacers will host Immaculata University on Wednesday.
Men’s Soccer
At the start of the week, the Atlantic East Conference announced Marywood’s Donnie Powell and Drew Smith earned weekly honor roll. Last week in the 3-1 win against Marymount, Powell scored the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute of the game, helping Marywood clinch its first ever win against Marymount in men’s soccer.
The Pacers destroyed the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins on the road Wednesday. The conference match up ended with an 8-1 Marywood win. The Pacers scored the first goal in only the fourth minute of the match. Alex Visha connected with Powell, who netted the first goal. Smith carried that momentum by scoring on a penalty kick in the sixth minute. Two minutes later, Jason Camardo was assisted by Jonathon Lowinger making the score 3-0. The Pacers had a scoring drought till they picked back up in the 20th minute, when Lowinger dominated the Griffins defense to score making it 4-0. Ryan Surowiec scored a goal 11 minutes after his assist in the 31st minute putting the Pacers 5-0 before the half. In the second half Manny Baez saw his teammate Jason Tordy who scored the sixth goal in the 54th minute. The Griffins were almost in a shutout until finally scoring in the 57th minute. Ethan Vogt shut down the Griffins momentum scoring a goal making it 7-1. To close the game in the 84th minute Grant Bernstein assisted Vogt, making it 8-1, marking the highest goal output for Marywood this season.
Marywood had a 4-0 win against Pratt Institute. With the win, the Pacers clinched the second seed in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs. The Pacers honored their seniors Tordy, Visha and Nolan Kozera. Jack Forbes contributed with two assists for Marywood. Bernstein, Jake Brown, Smith, and Baez all dominated Pratt’s defense scoring for the Pacers. Ryan Schweigart had a save in 52 minutes, before being subbed by Jairo Salazar, who added two saves of his own. The Pacers host Immaculata University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Women’s Volleyball
On Monday, Ayla Bransford earned Specialty Player of the Week by the Atlantic East Conference.
The Pacers are having a phenomenal season, marking their 20th win in a season since 2003. The Pacers shut out Moravian University 3-0 on Wednesday. Marywood had scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-20 to beat Moravain. Having a great game for the Pacers with 16 points, 11 kills and seven blocks was Taylor Hallam. With a double-double was Carolina Samaniego with 13 kills and 11 digs. Adding 10 digs for the Pacers was Ryeigh Hart. Tying the second all time Marywood assists with 38 assists in a three set match was Ayla Bransford. Catie Woolf contributed with 23 digs and Andrea Fraga had 12 digs.
Marywood traveled to Immaculata University on Saturday. Marywood was able to take home the 3-1 victory. The Pacers won by 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22. Carolina Samaniego had 12 kills, seven aces and nine digs. Gracee Work also had 12 kills. Hallam and Hart both had 10 kills. Marywood finished with 19 aces,with Bransford and Woolf each having three aces. The Pacers will host Neumann University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Women’s Field HockeyMarywood’s Dariane Jones won Player of the Week by the Atlantic East Conference. Jones had a great game against Neumann last week scoring two goals and assisting her teammate Brooke Barwick for the final goal in a 3-2 win.
On Wednesday, the Pacers traveled to Immaculata, taking home the win. In the 27th minute, Jones netted the first goal of the game. The second goal was scored by Barwick and was assisted by Jordan Saybe. The final goal that shut out Immaculata was from Amelia Niven. In the cage defending Marywood’s net was Bre Marchiano, who had 12 saves.
On Saturday, Marywood University is seeded first in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs. Barwick had one goal and one assist. Adding two more goals to shut out Manhattanville University was Jones and Lany Straub. Liv Rosengrant had six defensive saves and Rosegrant tied for sixth in Pacers history for career defensive saves with 10. Marywood will host TCNJ on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Men’s Swimming
Marywood traveled to SUNY Delhi and came home with a win of 127-87 on Saturday. Sam O’Sullivan had a 2:05.1 win in the 200. Having a 50 back win in only 28.71 seconds was Alex McCarey. He also won the 200 IM in 2:30.92. Alex Corcoran clutched three events. He came in first for 50 breast in 32.58 seconds, and came in first out of six 50 free swimmers with 24.85 seconds. In the 100 breast he had 1:14.53 seconds. Owen Turner won the 100 butterfly in 1:11.69. Tanner Osborn won the 100 free in 56.39 seconds.
Women’s Swimming
Marywood traveled to SUNY Delhi and came home with a win of 226-19. Molly Englenhardt won the 1000 free. She swam a 12:13.74. She also swam a 5:57.75 in the 500 free. Catelyn Lieser came in first in the 200 in the 50 free win in 26.79 seconds. Harper Welker won in the 50 back in 32.7 seconds and won the 100 back field in 1:09.54. Having three wins for the Pacers was Camila Gil. In the 50 breast she had 35.26 seconds. In the 100 breaststroke 1:16.66. In the 50 butterfly she had a 29.15 seconds. Kylee Koratich had a 100 fly win in a 1:00.0 She also won in the 100 free in 1:00.94 and in the 200 IM in 2:28.51.
