Colleen Hoover’s “Reminders of Him” is a book you’ll never want to put down.

Colleen Hoover’s new novel, “Reminders of Him,” is about a mother trying to help her child while also finding time to help and love herself. She takes matters into her own hands by trying to better herself and create what both she and her daughter need. Kenna Rowan has just gotten out of prison for involuntary manslaughter of her boyfriend. She is reunited with her now four-year-old daughter, Diem. Diem was taken from Kenna immediately after birth because Kenna was incarcerated. This is where she has to learn to love and accept not only herself, but also her daughter, with whom she has no connection.

After coming home she meets a local bar owner, Ledger Ward. Based on her past, no one can know of her growing relationship to Ledger. In the process there are tons of obstacles and events that add to the suspense of a love that should not be. Like any other Colleen Hoover books, this tale of heartbreak and redemption is very hard to put down.

The characters are all very well developed. Hoover’s novels are very emotional and exciting, and “Reminders of Him” checks those boxes. You will be left feeling angry, sad and even disappointed, but you will also be satisfied.

The plot moves slowly at times, but it is well worth the read. If you are looking for the romance part of the novel, you will find this more towards the end of the story. “Reminders of Him” is a slow burn romance novel, and that may disappoint some readers. The emotion and plot twists you will feel will make up for that.

You won’t regret reading this book. You might even feel guilty taking a break and you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole time. Don’t forget your tissues!
