Our campus is a decent size, big enough to get the college experience but small enough so we don’t get lost going from building to building. A lot of stuff happens on campus, and sometimes it can be hard to stay updated, even if we have Pacer Space. Hopefully seeing what buildings are the most exciting will serve as aid for finding events on campus.

Swartz Center
The Swartz Center/ Marian Chapel holds various concerts throughout the fall and spring semesters. Holiday and traditional Sunday masses are also held here as well as sometimes Capstone presentations in the spring.

Excitement 4/10

Liberal Arts Center (LAC)

Students are usually in this building for any history, religion, language or English courses. There aren’t many events in this building but every year during the fall semester the Tree Lighting takes place in the Rotunda. Choir and Chamber Singers concerts also occur in the Rotunda near the end of each semester. The Presidential Society Dinners and Community Leadership Celebrations take place during the fall and spring semesters.

Excitement 4.5/10

Center of Architectural Studies

The Architecture Building mostly hosts Advocacy and Research Day. During these events presentations as well as graduate and undergraduate posters are located here as well as interactive workshops and healing circles. There is also a current ongoing installation of the Center of Living City Lab.

Excitement 5.5/10

The Shields Center for Visual Arts
The Shields Center for Visual Arts provides art majors a chance to show off their artwork. The Shields Center is constantly running a variety of art galleries throughout the semester.

Excitement 6/10

Learning Commons
Marywood’s clubs and organizations frequently set up tables or displays throughout the Learning Commons. At the time of this publication there is a display on cardiology from students. Another display is Kindness week that takes place in April and uses the LC to display positive notes and other positive displays. The library holds diversity displays which have won an award from Insight to Diversity Magazine. The building also has a radio station that runs 24/7 and a TV studio where communication students go to film TV- Marywood on Fridays. The library holds an impressive book finding machine, one of the most important things to a lot of students on campus, a Starbucks.

Excitement 7.5/10

Center for Athletics and Wellness
The Center for Athletics and Wellness holds our campus gym, a dance studio and an aquatics center. There are plenty of sports games, yoga classes, dance classes and women’s self defense classes throughout the semester. This building also holds a variety of Family and Alumni Weekend events in the fall semester.

Excitement 7/10

Sette Laverghetta Center for Performing Arts

The Sette Laverghetta center hosts plays, musicals and various musical performances throughout the year. There is typically a play/musical, children’s theater production, Wind Symphony performance, the Tutti concert and the Nomadic Chromatics concert. The anticipated Spring musical “Bright Star” is also one to look forward to. Some other fall semester events include Mr.Marywood,Opening Liturgy and orientation.

Excitement 9.5/10

Nazareth Student Center

There is almost always something going on at Naz whether it’s a small or wide scale event. The Latour room especially hosts a variety of bingo games throughout the fall and spring semesters, Maxis’ birthday in the fall, Mental Health Awareness Day, some stations for Research and Advocacy Day, in Upper Main. Holidays events during Halloween and Christmas, near the Fireside Lounge and in Upper Main. the Scholarship Luncheons, and my personal favorite event, Compassionate Canines in Upper Main. While they might have some events exclusive to the fall and spring, there is no shortage of campus events.

Excitement 10/10

Marywood is a great campus to be part of. With so many events going on, it can be overwhelming trying to stay up to date. Hopefully this piece will help students on campus find their next event.
