No. 1 seeded Marywood hosted No. 2 Neumann University on Saturday for the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) finals. The Pacers defeated the Knights in the regular season 3-2, and looked to repeat that as sophomore Brooke Barwick found senior Dariane Jones for a goal late in the first half. Neumann nearly tied the game in the third quarter, but a clutch save from freshman goalkeeper Bre Marchiano kept Marywood on top. Jones added on to the Pacers’ lead with a penalty goal shortly after the fourth quarter began. Barwick sealed the deal with just over two minutes left in the game, clinching a 3-0 victory for Marywood.
Jones concluded her senior season with 28 assists, tied for the program record in career assists. Barwick finished her breakout season with 13 goals and eight assists, along with two AEC Field Hockey Player of the Week awards.
This marks the second AEC championship for the Pacers in as many years and the third for the program all-time, all coming under the supervision of head coach Julie Trott. The win puts a cherry on top of Marywood’s tenure in the AEC as the Pacers will move to the Middle Atlantic Conference’s (MAC) Freedom Conference from the 2026-27 season onwards. Marywood will advance to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and play Wesleyan University (CT) in the first round on Wednesday evening.
