Men’s Basketball
The Pacers traveled to Washington, D.C. on Monday, Nov. 24 to take on Division I American University in an exhibition match. Marywood got out to an early lead, as a layup from Shilo Bivins gave the green and gold an early 4-3 lead. The Eagles quickly answered and never looked back, however, snatching the lead shortly after. The Pacers entered halftime down 54-28. The second half looked similar as American beat Marywood 113-53.
The Pacers struggled to score from the field, sporting a 33.8% field goal rate and converting just four of 32 three-point attempts. Guards Andrew Quinn and Joe Macciocco combined for nearly half of the team’s points, scoring 16 and 15 respectively.
Marywood will travel to face nearby rival King’s College on Saturday in Wilkes-Barre.
Women’s Basketball
Marywood hosted John Jay College on Saturday afternoon at Insalaco Arena in Scranton. The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, as numerous lead changes led to a 16-13 advantage for the Bloodhounds when the buzzer sounded. This trend continued for much of the second quarter until the Pacers broke open the scoring. Marywood put up 26 points, including a 10-0 run to end the quarter, and entered halftime with a 39-26 lead. The final two quarters closely resembled the first, as both teams were closely matched. Despite John Jay lowering the Pacer lead to just seven points late in the fourth, Marywood was able to find a 73-63 victory.
Olivia Ciullo was dominant in the win, scoring 21 points, collecting 1,000 career college points.
Anyah Ortiz notched 13 points, while nabbing seven steals, and Mia Blume helped with seven assists.
Marywood’s next game will be a home affair against Elmira College on Wednesday night.
