Women’s Soccer
At the beginning of the week, two Pacers swept the Atlantic East Conference’s awards for the week. Senior Riley Mulherin earned her sixth conference Player of the Week award, while Rylee Alston earned her first Defensive Player of the Week.
Coming off a road win, Marywood was traveling again, this time to Cairn University to face the Highlanders. Marywood started the attack, failing to convert a corner, before Cairn fired a quartet of shots. Both teams traded runs of taking shots, before Marywood was able to convert the first goal of the game, on the foot of Mulherin. Marywood looked to extend the lead the remainder of the half but were unsuccessful.
The Pacers opened the second half threatening again, spending the majority of the first 20 minutes shooting. It wasn’t until the Pacers earned a penalty kick for the lead to be doubled, as captain Josephine Sorce stepped up and sank the shot. More of the same followed as the Pacers bullied the Cairn defense, scoring another goal, as Sorce set up Britlyn Higgins to extend the advantage. Marywood attempted to pad the lead more as the Pacers clinched another win 3-0.
Riding high on a three-game win streak, the Pacers were at Eastern University against the Eagles. The first 15 minutes of the opening half saw the Pacers and Eagles trade runs of offense that were thwarted by the opposing defenses. The remainder of the first half saw both offenses fall stagnant.
The Eagles soared out of halftime scoring the first goal of the game in the 48th minute by freshman Bridget Hitchner. The rest of the second half was all Pacers, as Eastern was only able to muster one shot, with Marywood taking nine and earning three corners. However, Marywood wasn’t able to send any of the shots home, as the win streak concluded with a 1-0 loss.
Men’s Soccer
The Pacers were at Felician University on Wednesday, facing the Falcons. The game started chippy, with five fouls in the opening 15-plus minutes. Marywood did dominate offensive possession but neither squad was able to score in the first half.
Offensive output was rare in the second half, with six total shots in the half. Fortunately for the Pacers, Jayce Wilson was able to net one of those shots, giving the Pacers the 1-0 lead, on that they’d hold onto.
Following the road win, Marywood hosted the Beavers of the City College of New York. The Beavers opened the match with a shot, before Marywood would take the offensive control, attempting nine shots, though none hit the mark. The first half was a very physical one, as the Pacers and Beavers combined for 16 fouls as halftime rolled around.
The Beavers opened the scoring in the 58th minute, as Peter Gjini snuck a shot past Jairo Salazar. It wasn’t until the 81st minute for the match to be tied, as Nolan Tordy set up Nolan Kozera for the finish. Marywood worked tirelessly in the last nine minutes to claim the lead but as the final buzzer sounded, the match remained tied 1-1.
Field Hockey
It was announced Monday that graduate student Cydney Lahr was nominated for Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week, with teammate Liv Rosengrant earning Defensive Player of the Week.
On Wednesday, Marywood traveled to FDU-Florham to face the Devils. The first period was all Marywood, owning the Devils’ half for a majority of the period, failing to score. The second period started with a quick strike from the Devils, claiming the lead on Sophia Candeloro’s first collegiate goal. Marywood tried to knot the game but went into halftime still trailing.
Junior Dariana Jones was able to get Marywood on the board early in the third. The Pacers were extremely aggressive following the goal, leading to Jones assisting Jordan Saybe for the lead. Marywood struck once again, this time Lahr being responsible for the goal. FDU-Florham spent the fourth trying to chip away at the deficit, taking seven shots. None of the shots were able to find the back of the net, as Marywood clinched its second road victory 3-1.
Marywood returned home to host the William Paterson University Pioneers. The Pacers offense didn’t struggle to get shots off, with Saybe connecting with a 9th minute goal. Lahr was able to add to the lead in the second period as the advantage was 2-0 at the break.
Marywood lived in the Pioneers’ half of the field in the third period but William Paterson was able to deny Marywood of any more goals. Lahr struck again in the 49th minute, before completing the hat trick just three minutes later. Maria Tomada put the nail in the coffin, as Marywood’s win streak extended to three, 5-0.
Volleyball
Following the tri-match losses, Marywood traveled to St. Elizabeth University to face the Eagles. The Pacers took an early lead in the set, one that they wouldn’t relinquish, taking the first set 25-18. The second set began with the Eagles owning seven of the first 10 points. The Eagles were able to outlast Marywood 25-21 in the second set.
Despite the Eagles earning a thick lead to start the third set, Marywood was able to scratch and claw back to steal the third set 25-23. Fatigue set in for the Eagles as the Pacers made quick work in the fourth set, winning 25-11 to take their third set and clinch their third victory on the season.

Women’s Tennis
Junior Gabriella Nowak was named Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week, following a singles and doubles win against Susquehanna University.
Men’s Tennis
Matthew Wygonik was named as the Atlantic East Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Wygonik was able to take his singles match against Muhlenberg College last week.
The Pacers traveled to downtown Scranton, to face the University of Scranton Royals. Marywood was outclassed, failing to bring home a single victory.
