Marywood’s newest Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services has begun to showcase his optimism and experience.

Robert Piurowski, a graduate of SUNY Delhi, was named to the position in February. He succeeded Ann Boland-Chase, who retired at the end of the Fall 2021 semester after 42 years of service.

Piurowski worked for various colleges and universities in his career, including Binghamton University, where he was Assistant Director of Admissions and Director of Admissions. He also held roles in Residence Life at Concordia and Admissions at SUNY Potsdam.

“The first half of my career was very much to gain experience. This is kind of like a life lesson you have. If you want to move up, you have to move out,” said Piurowski.

Aroona Madden, enrollment services technical specialist at Marywood, said from the moment Piurowski was interviewed, he showed a strong enthusiasm that left a solid first impression.

“He was definitely somebody who made the right impression right away and stood out from the other candidates and it was a very clear choice after we walked away from the interview that he would be a good fit for Marywood,” said Madden.

Madden added that Piurowski has been fully supportive of the department’s goals.

“He’s taking a step back and seeing how things are going and what works or doesn’t work, instead of just interjecting into everything. He’s really just taking a feel for it,” said Madden.

Piurowski added that he is open to the needs of Marywood students.

“I’m so pumped to be here. It’s a lot of hard work, but also, I believe in what we do,” said Piurowski.

Piurowski said he is excited to be a part of the Marywood community.

“I came away with a really good vibe that Marywood is holding true to its mission and values and history, but also knows that we need to continue to listen to students. We need to continue to listen to the demands for outcomes in terms of employers or graduate school opportunities to make sure that we’re providing this really outstanding experience,” said Piurowski.
